The Market

The world-wide addressable market for pain monitoring is approximately $3.3 billion dollars (capital and disposables) annually. Considering the declaration of new pain management standards (“pain is the fifth vital sign”), the increasing awareness of pain monitoring, and increasing consumption of medical services by the aging population in developed countries, this market is expected to experience high growth.

Medasense’s target markets are hospitals, medical facilities, and R&D institutions. The main target market segment includes medical facilities that provide care to patients who are unable to communicate, for example: in operating rooms, intensive care units, and recovery rooms. Medasense’s secondary target market segments include pain clinics, oncology wards, geriatric wards, research institutions, and pharmaceutical and medical device companies developing pain-related products.

Medasense intends to sell stand-alone pain monitoring systems to medical facilities and OEM systems to manufactures of patient-monitoring devices. Medasense’s system includes both capital equipment and disposable sensor kits.
