The Technology
Medasense develops a pain-monitoring system, an innovative, patent-pending platform technology for automated and continuous assessment of a patient’s pain level. Medasense’s solution is based on a non-invasive acquisition of multiple patients’ physiological signals.
The acquired physiological data is analyzed by algorithms that use modern methods of biomedical signal processing, machine learning, and pattern recognition. Substantial technological and scientific progress has made this computationally demanding approach commercially feasible only recently. Outstanding performances achieved during a proof-of-concept trial have demonstrated the validity of the proposed solution.
Medasense’s first pain-monitoring prototype was successfully tested on 70 volunteers in feasibility trials at Rambam Health Care Campus, Haifa, Israel. It achieved outstanding performances. Clinical trials in operating rooms have just been approved by Rambam’s Helsinki committee. The pilot stage of the trial is scheduled for Q4 2009.
